Thanks to a small grant from the Food for Life 'Get Togethers' initiative, we are working with residents to make and install Community Cupboards.
The Cupboards are spaces, at the boundaries of people's properties, that can be used for the free exchange of seeds, seedlings and produce so that more people are equipped to grow and share food! We're building them out of salvaged materials wherever possible, and giving people starter kits of seeds and compost to get them off the blocks!
We've trialled Community Cupboards to great success, with conversations being sparked and ideas shared between neighbours. The project is a response to the Coronavirus pandemic, which has seen many residents want to grow food, but struggling to source the materials required.
